Experimental Characterization of Raw Earth Properties for Modeling Their Hygrothermal Behavior

Raw earth is one of the oldest building materials mankind. Almost a third world’s population living in an earth-based house. However, their use remains low compared to conventional such as concrete, steel, and wood. Although these geosourced are abundant, recyclable, have environmental footprint, very limited construction sector. This can be explained by lack data regarding hygrothermal behavior. In this context, present work aims highlight properties cob material with straw addition. An experimental characterization microstructural has been carried out. Thermal conductivity, specific heat, sorption isotherms, moisture storage capacity, buffer value (MBV), water vapor permeability obtained experimentally. Then, collected used input parameters numerical prediction model numerically assess thermal hygric Cob then other more commonly benefits its within context energetic transition. Our results will allow better understanding behavior new thanks investigation.
